What is the real meaning of Twix? ›

The product was first produced in the United Kingdom in 1967, and it was introduced in the United States in 1979. The name is a portmanteau of "twin sticks".

According to Twix themselves, Left Twix is described as smooth caramel on top of a crunchy cookie that is enveloped in creamy chocolate. As for Right Twix, the candy is described as chewy caramel on top of a crisp cookie, cloaked in velvety chocolate.

A voiceover in the commercial said: “When you need a moment, chew it over with Twix.” “Needing a moment” is another way of saying taking a break or pause. Social media users have claimed that there's a pause button in the logo of the chocolate bar.

The company even created a fictional story of two brothers, Seamus and Earl, who had different ideas about how the chocolate covering the bars should be manufactured, so they split off into different factories, where each made one of the bars his own way.

Twix bars were created in 1967 by Mars. Reportedly, the candy bars were first made at one of the company's factories located in Slough, England. Interestingly, the candy bars were originally known by the name “Raider” in many European countries, and Mars didn't change the candy's European name to Twix until 1991.

The two dots aren't representative of the two pieces of the candy bar, but instead create a pause symbol (via 1000 Logos). In fact, this pause symbol didn't actually come to the Twix wrapper until 2010, with previous candies featuring standard lettering after switching from the original European candy name of Raider.

Twix first appeared in 1967 under an interesting disguise: the candy was named Raider and could only be found in the United Kingdom. Since the candy was so popular with the Brits, the candy's parent company, Mars Inc., introduced Twix to America 13 years later.

Each has sugar, wheat, cocoa butter and other flavours in the mix, the exact same ingredients on both packets. But the Mars Pods have one extra ingredient that the Twix doesn't: barley malt extract, which gives it a sweet and nutty flavour. Other than that, they're exactly the same.
