Jonathan Gregory Davis

Full name is Jonathan Gregory Davis Jr., but he has gone by J.D. since he was in elementary school. The “D” in J.D. stands for Davis. He says he does not go by J.G. because “it doesn’t flow quite as well”. When he was in school, he listed J.D. as his full name on tests until his teacher asked him to write Davis as well to keep track while grading papers...Was a four-year letter winner at Elk Grove (CA) High School. Was a two-time high school All-American and was named the NorCal Player of the Year in both his junior and senior years...Also was an all-league football player at Elk Grove in 2008...Earned the nickname Dizzle in high school, a mash-up of “J Diesel’’- as in big as a diesel truck. He was just 160 pounds early in high school and added 50 pounds between his sophom*ore and junior years to boost his performance in both football and baseball...His Dad and Mom both work at the UC-Davis Medical Center. Dad is a radiology manager and mom is a supervisor in the pulmonary and COVID clinic...J.D.’s younger brother, Ben, played football in college...Davis’s girlfriend, Kristen Ashley, is an agent who manages her own country music company. Signed his first professional contract on June 12 and reported to Class A Short Season Tri-City...split his season between Tri-City (30g) and Class A Quad Cities (43g), combining to hit .293 (78x266) with 16 doubles, 13 home runs and 52 RBI en route to being named an MiLB.com Organizational All-Star...was named the New York-Penn League Player of the Week for June 30-July 6...had two doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI in six games that week...promoted to Quad Cities on July 15 and finished his season with the River Bandits...made all his starts at third base in 2014.
