Be sure to finish all the Emverm (mebendazole) that was prescribed to you, even if you feel better. Stopping too early can cause your infection to return.
Some people can still have lingering symptoms of their infections after finishing all their doses of Emverm (mebendazole). If you are still having symptoms more than 3 weeks after finishing Emverm (mebendazole), contact your healthcare provider. You may need to take Emverm (mebendazole) again.
There is a very dangerous interaction between Emverm (mebendazole) and Flagyl (metronidazole). Do not take both of these at the same time. If you have recently taken Flagyl, please let your healthcare provider know before starting Emverm (mebendazole).
Experts don't know if Emverm (mebendazole) is safe for pregnant women to take. If you are pregnant, please talk to your healthcare provider, as parasitic infections are harmful to both you and your unborn baby and should be treated as soon as possible. If you are not pregnant, do not try to become pregnant until your infection is completely gone.
If you are on Emverm (mebendazole) for long periods of time or if you have to use it multiple times in a row, your healthcare provider may ask you to get some blood tests done. Long-term use of Emverm (mebendazole) can affect the cells in your body that fight infections.

CONVULSIONS
Risk factors: Children under age 1
Emverm (mebendazole) can cause convulsions. This is more likely to happen to children under 1 year old. Thus, Emverm (mebendazole) should not be used in children under 2. If you experience convulsions while taking Emverm (mebendazole), contact your healthcare provider immediately. Do not continue taking Emverm (mebendazole) unless your provider tells you to do so.
LOW WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT
Risk factors: High doses of Emverm (mebendazole) | Using Emverm (mebendazole) longer than usual
Emverm (mebendazole) can lower the number of white blood cells in your body. These are the cells that fight off infections, and without the right amount, you can get sick easier and have a harder time getting better. This side effect is very rare when taken as prescribed for worm infections. It usually only happens if you have to take a very high dose of Emverm (mebendazole) or take Emverm (mebendazole) for long periods of time. If you need multiple courses of Emverm (mebendazole) to treat a stubborn infection, your healthcare provider might ask you to have blood tests done to make sure your white blood cells are at a normal level.
DANGEROUS DRUG INTERACTION
Do not take Emverm (mebendazole) with Flagyl (metronidazole). This combination can cause life-threatening skin rashes. These are allergic rashes that are painful and create blisters all over the body. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice a new or severe rash, a rash accompanied by a fever, unexplained blisters, or new sores inside your mouth. If you are currently taking or have recently finished taking Flagyl, do not start your course of Emverm (mebendazole). Ask your healthcare provider when you should begin taking Emverm (mebendazole) to avoid this drug interaction.
