Vikrant Massey Opens Up About Stepping Back From Acting to Prioritize Family

In December 2024, Vikrant Massey surprised fans by announcing a temporary break from acting via Instagram. The actor, known for his role in "12th Fail," has now revealed the deeply personal reason behind his decision, emphasizing that it was not a retirement announcement.

Massey clarified that his break was motivated by a desire to improve himself and dedicate quality time to his family. "No, if at any point I feel like I need to take a break to become a better version of myself, then I will take that break," Vikrant Massey told Bollywood Bubble. "The idea was always to better myself and, of course, to spend time with my family."

The actor became a father in 2024 to a baby boy named Vardaan. He revealed the emotional toll that his demanding work schedule had taken.

"The last few years have been phenomenal, but I’ve been away from my family, shooting non-stop. I had a baby boy, and you know what’s heartbreaking?" he shared.

The actor poignantly described missing key milestones in his son's early life. "His memories of me are from videos. His first tooth came in, but I wasn’t there. He said ‘Papa’ for the first time in my absence. His first memory of me is through a video, which I’ve saved in a folder. I mean, that’s ridiculous, right?"

Addressing Burnout, Not Announcing Retirement

Massey emphasized that his decision was a response to burnout, not a career ending announcement. It was a necessary pause to spend time with his family and re-evaluate his artistic path.

"If I feel the need to go back to the drawing board and better myself as an actor, I will," he stated. "Because of the blessings I’ve received, because of the privilege I have, I will go back, work on myself, and then come back."

During his time away, Vikrant Massey used the opportunity to analyze his previous work, identify patterns, and explore areas for growth. The break provided him with clarity regarding his creative stagnation and helped him reassess his future career trajectory.
