The safety of our consumers is a top priority. It always has been, and it always will be. On May 20, 2022, we voluntarily initiated a recall of some Jif products. We did so proactively out of an abundance of caution and concern for the safety of consumers.

Please know, we’re committed to reimbursing consumers fairly based on the information provided to us.  We are now supporting all consumers through https://www.jif.com/contact-us.

We encourage consumers to use the following information on U.S. impacted product to determine whether they have impacted product in their possession. This information can be found on the product packaging.

Consumers with product impacted by the recall can contact us throughjif.com/contact-usor800-828-9980M-F 8:00am – 5:00pm EST to coordinate reimbursem*nt. After you have contacted us to coordinate appropriate reimbursem*nt we would encourage you to dispose of the product.

WHAT HAPPENED: As part of our standard control processes, we identified that an equipment issue may have allowed water to enter and remain in our production environment. This could have provided a potential source for bacteria to be introduced to our system. We immediately instituted corrective action, repairing the equipment and destroying product. We also conducted extensive cleaning and sanitation throughout our facility.

WHY?: Raw agricultural products, including peanuts, can carry natural pathogens. We employ strict food safety practices to prevent those pathogens from remaining in finished product. Without exception, every single lot of peanut butter we produce is tested. Our systems are designed to proactively detect pathogens in the manufacturing process. In the rare instance our standards are not met, we destroy the product as well as product produced immediately before and after.

WHAT WE’VE DONE: Following this voluntary recall, we use these systems to ensure we have addressed the issue. The FDA also collected environmental samples as part of its recall investigation and communicated to us that these samples were negative for Salmonella.
