However, the company was forced to withdraw this range after facing accusations of hurting the religious sentiments of the community. People argued that the wrappers might be thrown in bins or trampled underfoot, which is disrespectful to the gods and the Hindu faith.

Nestle India has apologised after it faced backlash for putting images of Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra and Mata Subhadra on the wrapper of its product KitKat. Many social media users slammed the company and stated that the controversial wrapper had hurt their sentiments.

"To clarify, the 'chocolayer' — the filling between the wafer of a Kit Kat — is made from cocoa liquor, sugar and a small amount of re-worked Kit Kat," a Nestlé U.K. spokesperson confirmed, adding, "Please note, re-worked Kit Kat is product which cannot be sold."

With all that being said, yes KitKat is generally halal but just to be sure, check the label before enjoying it because the ingredients change based on the market's needs. Some KitKats might contain haram ingredients, but most of them shouldn't.
