It usually takes a bit of extra equipment to achieve a perfectly round fried egg – egg rings, egg molds and such – but one self-confessed "food whiz" says he has mastered the art of creating them every time without any of these gadgets.

He has shared the hack on TikTok @molebo_xx and his followers have been pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness.

"Wow! It worked the first time for me!" one said.

All you need to achieve perfectly round fried eggs is a clove of garlic.

"Just use the garlic to draw patterns in whatever shape you want in the pan, and the egg will turn into this pattern," he explained in the video.

You do need to make sure the skin of the garlic clove is broken before you firmly rub it onto a non-stick pan in the desired shape, which can be a circle or even a square.

Gently crack the egg into the shape you have created and watch the egg white and yolk settle into whichever shape you have drawn.

The only catch is that you have to enjoy the taste of garlic with your fried eggs.

"I did an egg shape and it worked perfectly," one person commented.

"I tried a heart shape," added another.

"You gotta try this!!!" said another.

"It works," another simply said.

Others didn't have as much luck with the fried egg hack.

"Whaaaaat. Man I wish I could afford some eggs, stove and a frying pan right now," said one.

"I am on egg 14 and nothing so far," added another.

Another took issue with the garlic flavour of the eggs.

"Yeah, because we all want garlic eggs," they commented.

One person claims the same can be achieved by using oil to draw shapes on the pan.

"Not the garlic. It's the oil you draw on the pan," they said.
